Landry & Kling’s Joyce Landry Invited to Serve on Governing Group of Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC)
May 18th, 2010 by admin

MIAMI, FL (May 17, 2010) – A driving force in the cruise meetings and incentives business, and widely known as an innovative entrepreneur,  Joyce Landry, CEO of Landry & Kling and co-founder of Seasite.com, was named to the Forum Governing Group of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

“It is a real privilege for me to serve on the governing group and have the opportunity to help set the tone and policy of the organization going forward,” states Landry.  “As a certified women’s business enterprise (WBE) for the last four years, I have experienced firsthand the benefits of membership as well as the credibility it brings to a business. I am excited about leveraging that knowledge to help WBEs develop their capacity to meet corporate needs and gain a better understanding of how to compete in a diverse procurement environment.

“In the interest of fostering diversity, many corporations and government agencies track their spending with women-owned and other diversity suppliers. Working with companies like ours for meetings and incentive travel programs, which often involve sizeable budgets, helps major corporations reach their required threshold of spending with diversity businesses to qualify for government contracts.

“It is my goal in serving on the board to assist in creating opportunities to connect corporate buyers with certified WBEs and be an advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations,” added Landry.

To achieve WBENC certification, companies go through a rigorous, multi-faceted business application and review process, which is nationally accepted by thousands of major corporations and a select group of government entities.  In 2006, Landry & Kling received their national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise.  Landry says that being a certified member has on various occasions provided the added edge in winning the business of Fortune 1000 companies.

According to G. Nancy Allen, President of the Women's Business Development Center (a regional partner of  WBENC), Landry was invited to participate in the Forum Governing Group because she is a great advocate for women-owned businesses and truly represents the membership by engaging in business locally, nationally and internationally.  “With her in this high ranking position, the Florida women business enterprises that are part of WBENC now have a voice with the national office as well as the national corporations that sponsor WBENC.”

Of the 10,000 members of WBENC, only 70 are chosen to serve on the governing group. Throughout her two-year board term, Landry will work to further the synergy between corporate members and WBEs through committee and task force participation as well as taking an active role in the organization’s global growth and expansion into Europe.

Cruise Specialist Landry & Kling Appointed to Sell Floating Hotel Packages for World Cup 2010 in South Africa
Mar 17th, 2010 by admin

Ship Charter Specialists Will Handle Sales in U.S. & Latin America; Two Premium Cruise Ships Will Visit Three Ports on World Cup Circuit

MIAMI, FL (March 16, 2010) One Ocean Club has appointed Landry & Kling, Inc. as their exclusive representative in the U.S. and Latin America to market and sell floating hotel packages for the prestigious World Cup 2010 in South Africa. Landry & Kling was chosen because the firm originated the dockside housing phenomenon and has decades of experience utilizing cruise ships as floating hotels.

As the official sales agent for the U.S. and Latin American regions, Landry & Kling will offer a variety of secure and luxurious housing packages on board two premium Holland America Line ocean liners, MS Westerdam and MS Noordam. The two vessels will provide a total of 1,900 sleeping rooms. During the month-long event beginning June 10, 2010, the ships will be dockside at Cape Town, Elizabeth, and Durban for key matches. The 3,800 on-board guests will have the opportunity to attend games in World Cup stadiums in all three locations with transport available to other matches.

Packages will rival similar four- and five-star hotels with added benefits such as top level security, included entertainment on board, and all meals in a choice of restaurants. Shipboard guests have the advantage of only one check-in and transport from venue to venue, as well as the option to experience South Africa with concierge-assisted land excursions.

“The value for attendees staying on board is unmatched, given a cruise ship’s all-inclusive offerings, comfortable surroundings and highest levels of security and service, as well as transport between venue cities and stadiums”, states Joyce Landry, CEO of Landry & Kling. “While individual bookings have been selling rapidly, we are delighted to partner with One Ocean Club to secure blocks of cabins that would be attractive for soccer clubs, sports marketing companies and corporate groups.”

To promote the floating hotel World Cup packages, Landry & Kling has launched www.WorldCupCruise.com. The web site offers information on packages, cruise ship accommodations, match schedules, venues and booking details. Package pricing starts from $645 per person, based on double occupancy. For group planning assistance, contact Landry & Kling at 800-448-9002 or +1-305-661-1880.

10 Reasons Why Seasite.Com Will Revolutionize The Cruise Meetings & Incentive Market
Oct 9th, 2009 by admin

10 Reasons Why Seasite.Com Will Revolutionize The Cruise Meetings & Incentive Market

1. Seasite.com is the first and only web portal for the cruise meetings and incentive market. Until now, there has been no single, online platform dedicated to serving the highly specialized cruise meetings market. Seasite’s innovative technology opens up the untapped world of cruising for planners, connecting cruise lines and meeting professionals like never before. Cruise sourcing can now be as easy and efficient as planning hotel events, and equally reliable – thanks to the tried and tested experience of Seasite’s founders, Landry & Kling, the meetings-at-sea experts.

2. One source delivers it all. The tedious tasks of phoning and searching multiple cruise web sites in vain are gone, as Seasite provides impartial access any day, any time, to 35 cruise brands (over 250 ships), and its meeting-friendly search criteria even allows users to search for charters of a specific size, plus three other specialty searches. A simple click compares ship choices along with maps, itineraries, ship profiles and essential meeting planning data.

3. Data not found elsewhere. Planner’s Guides offer comprehensive ship data harvested only for Seasite – never before published – not even on individual cruise line web sites. Planners will find meeting space grids, function room capacities, outdoor function areas, group dining information, photo galleries, an inventory of guest rooms by category, AV equipment, communications technology and more.

4. High tech/high touch. Rich data and sophisticated search technology lets planners “loose” yet “in control,” providing 24/7 answers and ship-sourcing tools so they can become more knowledgeable planners and educated cruise buyers. At the same time, Cruise Advisors, who are trained by Landry & Kling, offer the expertise, backup and support to source and deliver with confidence.

5. Search, sort and conquer. Seasite’s powerful search capabilities allow planners to drill down and refine searches by cruise line, ship rating, size, capacity of largest function room, cruise style (floating resort, boutique ship, sail ship, river boat), by port or day of departure, destination, cruise length and much more.

6. Unique eRFP process. Streamlining and simplifying what can be an arduous process, Seasite offers the first group cruise RFP online, all supported by Cruise Advisors. One single RFP is sent to multiple cruise lines, generating electronic bottom-line quotes for a quick and accurate “apples to apples” comparison.

7. Cost cutting and value driven. Cruise meetings can provide cost savings of 25-40%, and Seasite helps make that a reality. No longer is sourcing and planning a meeting or incentive at sea labor intensive and intimidating for those unfamiliar with the process. With Seasite, everything you need to research the possibilities and create a successful program is a click away (with expert Cruise Advisors at your service when needed). Seasite.com finally puts cruise sourcing on par with hotels, so group travel buyers can easily compare price/value – their main focus in today’s economy.

8. The ultimate source for Do It Yourselfers (DIY). An indispensible tool for savvy DIY planners as well as those looking to learn more about cruise meetings and incentives, the Knowledge Center is a repository of information and advice designed for all levels of expertise. It includes operational checklists and timelines, comparison of using a cruise verses a hotel, how to overcome obstacles and myths about business at sea, distance between airports and seaports, sample day-by-day agendas, cruise contract terminology, a cruise event feasibility quiz; case histories and much more. Planners no longer have to rely on others to spoon-feed them information and ideas. A wealth of data and resources, driven by a robust search engine, allows 24/7 research and planning anywhere, anytime.

9. Creativity and inspiration. Seasite’s “Great Ideas” section stimulates individuality, creativity and customization. An invaluable source of ideas, planners will find recommended “Gems,” (rare and hard to find, short cruise opportunities), a “Top 10” list of best ships and itineraries for groups and “Quick Picks” with cruise ideas based on group size. Additionally, the all important aspect of on-board dining is transformed from challenging to exciting as Seasite provides the facts about dining facilities, seating capacities and exclusive use of specialty restaurants.

10. It’s free. There’s no cost or membership fee to use Seasite.com and pricing is the same as buying direct.

Incentive Travel Specialists Landry & Kling Named among Top Women-Led Businesses in Florida 2009

The Commonwealth Institute and Florida International University recently named Landry & Kling, corporate cruise specialists, among the ”Top 50 Women-Led Businesses in Florida.” The Miami-based cruise meeting experts ranked #13 in the state.

Coral Gables, FL (Vocus/PRWEB ) July 31, 2009 — The Commonwealth Institute and Florida International University recently named Landry & Kling, corporate cruise specialists, among the ”Top 50 Women-Led Businesses in Florida.” The Miami-based cruise meeting experts ranked #13 in the state.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by TCI South Florida and FIU,” said Joyce Landry, CEO, Landry & Kling. “This, plus our recent induction into the CLIA Hall of Fame (Cruise Lines International Association) at the Cruise3Sixty Gala dinner, fills us with gratitude for having been able to create a business in the cruise industry, where many women have achieved top leadership roles.”

The College of Business Administration at Florida International University and The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) undertook this study to discover what distinguishes women who have made it to the top in Florida-based organizations. Nationwide, only 3% of top positions in organizations are filled by women although 50% of professional and managerial positions are held by women.

Women who are the senior executive or primary owner of companies or corporate subsidiaries with at least $1M in revenues or 25 employees were surveyed about their backgrounds, career progression, work habits, life choices, and motivation, along with their approaches to business strategy, operations, leadership, and personal development.

The study found that women-owned businesses are faring better in the down economy. One reason is that women tend to incur less debt so their businesses were less encumbered by financial obligations and stress. And, women are more optimistic about the future, which results in changing business practices to adjust with the times in order to retain good employees. They are less likely to cut staff as a first cost savings measure.
